ski and snowboarding resort in czech republic

This list of snowboarding and skiing places in Czech Republic (Czechia) is based on distance from Prague. I have chosen the places, where you can go there and back in 1 day from Prague.

I am a huge snowboarding fan, so far 20 years on snowboard. I was growing up close to mountains, so it was not a problem for me to take for example a bus and reach the closest ski areal in 20-30 minutes. Unfortunately in Czech Republic almost all ski and snowboarding resorts are pretty far away from Prague.

I really missed the opportunity to snowboard after work… Especially if you see this unexpected fluffy snow falling from the sky – holy gift for snowboarding, yeah! But still there are places, where you can go after work for evening skiing or snowboarding. And here is my list of skiing resorts that I hope you will find helpful. If you don`t have time to reserve the whole weekend for skiing and snowboarding in Czehia – it is your list to check by yourself.

I will be very happy if you will write me a comment if you have enjoyed these places or not – thanks and may the fluffy powder be with you!

Ski Resort Telnice (Ski Areál Telnice)

Ski resort Telnice is about 1 hour far from Prague and from Dresden. That’s why you will see there a lot of German skiers and snowboarders. This ski resort is near the German-Czech boarder. What I really like about this ski resort – that they have chair lifts, because you know how hard it can be sometimes to relax on  platter lift when you have snowboard on your feet. Mountains around – are Krusne Hory (Krusne or Or Mountains) – UNESCO heritage. Nevertheless ski resort Telnice is not so popular like ski areal Moninec (mentiouned below) and not crowded (that`s good thing!)

You can check the snow conditions by ski resort Telnice webcam

Advantages:

  • 9 skiing trails (5 km)
  • 1 chair lift and 6 platter lifts
  • Skipasses for 2 /3 / 4 hours – good prices (500 / 600 / 650 CZK in 2023) + daily – 800 CZK
  • 1 hour from Prague by car
  • Daily ski and snowboard rental
  • Ski / snowboard school in Czech, English and German
  • Not crowded – good for beginners
  • You can eat very tasty handmade Czech Trdelnik after the skiing

Disadvantages

  • In March (2023) worked only chair lift and 1 skiing trail was open
  • Outdated information about skipass prices on the website
  • Website only in Czech and German
  • No evening skiing and snowboarding, opening hours: 9 am – 4 pm daily
  • No restaurant, only small cafe

On your way back to Prague you will see very interesting historical war monument – dedicated to battle of Kulm (1918 – Napoleon army against Prussian , Austrian and Russian armies)
